The Endocannabinoid System
This newly found system in our bodies has been able to explain why CBD and THC affect our bodies the way they do. The role of the CB1 receptors in the system is to regulate our phycological processes such as: energy level, hunger, pain intensity, mood, anxiety, depression, seizure activity, and more.
The system also includes CB2 receptors that regulate our immune system and cell growth. These includes areas like inflammation and pain regulation.
Cannabidoil or CBD does many different things in our Endocannabinoid system. It will bind to CB2 receptors to cause them to slow down the metabolic process of an enzyme called anandamide to enhance its effectiveness and decrease inflammation.
It has also been known to decrease or take away the psyco-active high from THC, and this is because of the way the CBD binds to our CB1 receptors. This way we get the benefit of the THC for things like anxiety, depression, pain, etc, without the high of it.
How CBD works in our body..
CBD and THC are two of many different elements called cannabinoids. These cannabinoids work in our body similarly to the naturally occurring compounds in our bodies called endogenous cannabinoids. They both work as part of our Endocannabinoid system, which is the system that affects our body from our mood to how we experience pain.
